Dear Potential New Members, 

Whether you are thinking about going through recruitment because you are a first-generation college student, a chapter legacy, or just looking to build a sisterhood, this message is for you. It is an absolute honor to be able to write to you today as Panhellenic President.

This opportunity would not be possible if I didn’t decide to go out of my comfort zone and go through recruitment 3 years ago. Growing up, I was always a little shy and had the habit of only opening up to certain people. So, I decided to go through recruitment to build relationships with girls who understood me and loved me for who I truly am. It is safe to say that as someone who is about to graduate from UTampa, I met my future bridesmaids.

This process is about discovering more about yourself like your values and character, and finding a group of girls in which you feel like you can be yourself around and hold nothing back in the conversation. I know it is hard but try to not let other girls and social media get in the way of how you feel about a chapter, just because one person had a bad experience doesn’t mean you will too. You all deserve to try this process for yourselves.

Panhellenic recruitment can seem like a stressful time of your life, but the best piece of advice to carry with you is that everything happens for a reason, and you will end up where you belong.
